About this pack
The 5L became the standard Long Range and Performance pack for Model 3 and Model Y built in Shanghai, and for Model Y built in Berlin from March 2022. Community sources identify the LG M50 cell inside, and the Akkuwiki lists the pack at 78.8 kWh under part number family 1700012.
A Chinese regulatory comparison reported by autoevolution puts the previous Shanghai Long Range pack with LGES cells at 81.65 kWh. That article does not name the pack code, and definitions of gross capacity differ between sources, so both figures are shown.

Identification
How to tell if your car has it
- European cars: variant field (D.2) E5LD (Model 3) or Y5LD (Model Y) on the registration certificate or COC.
- VIN prefix LRW = Shanghai, XP7 = Berlin-Brandenburg.
- The part number on the high-voltage battery label and Tesla service records are definitive. A VIN alone does not encode the cell supplier or pack code.
History
Lineage in the LG 2170 NMC family
LG Energy Solution's NMC 2170 cells power Long Range and Performance Model 3 and Model Y built in Shanghai and Berlin, evolving through the 5C, 5L, 5M and 5N packs.
