About this pack

In July 2022 the Dutch authority RDW type-approved a Model Y variant internally called Y7CR, a rear-wheel-drive car with a BYD LFP structural pack, as reported from leaked approval documents. Production at Giga Berlin started in May 2023.

Capacity is disputed. The type-approval documents list 55 kWh, while electrive's independent measurement found about 60 kWh. Both values are shown and neither is marked as correct.

Performance

Charging, advantages and tradeoffs

Peak DC charging

170 kW

Documented[3]

No verified charging curve for this pack is in the database yet. Curves vary with temperature, state of charge and software, so we only publish curves backed by repeatable measurements.

Advantages

  • electrive reproducibly charged from 10 to 80% in under 20 minutes in cool conditions with preconditioning. [3]

Tradeoffs

  • Fast-charging performance depends heavily on preconditioning, as with other LFP packs. [3]

Identification

How to tell if your car has it

  • European cars: variant field (D.2) Y7CR on the registration certificate or COC.
  • Controls › Software › Additional Vehicle Information shows the LFP battery type.
  • The part number on the high-voltage battery label and Tesla service records are definitive. A VIN alone does not encode the cell supplier or pack code.
